

Six People Join Fire Dept.
Six people joined the Waterville Fire Department last week. It’s the first time in the department’s history, said Waterville Chief Jarrod Waufle, that six people were voted in at the same time. Joining the department: Jeremy Edwards, Cole Buschor, Margaret Mangan, Hilary Rounds-Kehoe, Jonathan Rounds and Sarah Rounds-Kehoe. History On Ice
The Clinton Historical Society opened a new exhibit this month in tribute to the Clinton Figure Skating Club. The Opening Reception included speakers who talked about the history of the Club and changes over the years. The exhibit is on display through May. The Historical Society is open on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

WCS Juggles Rising Costs
Waterville Board of Education members had their first look at the 2026-27 budget at last week’s meeting. Superintendent Zach Abbe and School Business Executive Cynthia Amarosa pointed out that over the last 10 years, the District’s budget has gone from $18 million to $23 million this year. Residents Weigh In On Kirkland Solar Project
In their first monthly meeting with a new supervisor and new Board members, the Kirkland Town Board last week approved a Host Agreement for the Limberlost Solar Project. The 3-2 vote allowed the Kirkland Planning Board to have a public hearing on the project two nights later with the idea of moving on. The final decision falls to the Planning Board. Brookfield Board Choses Consultant To Lead Search
The Brookfield Board of Education voted last week to have Oneida-Herkimer- Madison BOCES District Superintendent Dr. Patricia Kilburn lead the search for the next superintendent. Kilburn attended a BCS meeting in January and explained that her search time was part of the services offered by BOCES without a cost. ‘Utica’ Describes History Of The Old Main

Oriskany Falls Accepts Bid For New Truck
The Village of Oriskany Falls heard no comments from residents during a public hearing at their January meeting. The hearing was to override the 2026 tax cap limit. The step is taken in case the 2026-27 budget needs to go over the tax cap as set by the state.
