The Plainfield Town Board met Sept. 10 for their monthly meeting. The meeting opened with the Pledge of Allegiance. Highway Department Superintendent Chad Hazekamp said the culvert upgrades to Pritchard Road bridge are almost done. The Columbia Town Board met Sept. 10. The Town Clerk’s monthly financial report for the period ending Aug. 31 was presented. Fees were collected in August for dog licenses, certified death certificate copies, three building permit applications, and two zoning applications. David and Shirley Drake Each year the Herkimer County Office for the Aging and Advisory Council recognizes two older adults in the community. They were recognized at the RSVP dinner in Ilion. Person of the Year: David and Shirley Drake are recognized as a collective force for good in the community. David's passing a year ago was a grave loss to the community in Litchfield. At their re-organizational meeting for 2026-27 the Richfield Springs Board of Education swore in a new superintendent and Board member. Dr. Jessica Poyer was formally recognized as the District’s new superintendent. Larry Bohling began his term as a board member and Brad Smith was sworn in for another term.
