Mustangs Lose To Little Falls
Mount Markham couldn’t hold back a Little Falls offensive surge in the second half and lost to the Mounties in the state field hockey qualifier. Little Falls scored two goals in the third quarter and three in the fourth to beat the Mustangs 5-0. Mount Markham ends the season as the Section Three Class C champs with a 12-5-1 record. Voters Decide Town Positions
Local results from the Nov. 4 General Election: Herkimer County Legislator Ray Donley was re-elected unopposed with 468 votes. In the Town of Columbia Eric Gloo was elected Town Clerk unopposed with 201 votes. Bruce Learned was re-elected to the Columbia Town Board with 198 votes, and Tammy DesGrosielliers was elected to her first term with 180 votes. Plainfield Asked To Host Historical Event
The regular meeting of the Plainfield Town Board was Oct. 9 at the Town Hall. Supervisor Todd Lewis opened the meeting at 7 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance. Deputy Highway Superintendent Dale Brown said he has completed all forms and has sent them to the state DOT. The Town will be reimbursed $57,000 for roadwork completed under the Consolidated Highway Improvement Program. Scots Glen Road is now open due to prior bridge damage. ...

Veterans Will Be Honored With School Ceremony
Mount Markham Elementary School students and staff will present a program to honor local military veterans. All veterans and active military members are invited to the school’s Good Morning Program Monday, Nov. 10 for a special Veterans Day Program. Salaries Adjusted In New Town Of Richfield Budget
The Town of Richfield decreased some town employee salaries for 2026 in their budget for next year. At the Oct. 16 budget workshop a motion to increase all employee salaries, excluding the Town Board, by 2.5 percent was withdrawn without approval. Salary for the Town Justice was decreased $220 to $14,780. Salary for the Court Clerk was decreased $1,000 to $21,000. Salary for the Town Supervisor was decreased $338 to $13,837.
