Gingerbread Houses
Photos By Cole Piechowicz Mount Markham student Cole Piechowicz took these photos of the Gingerbread House contest at the West Winfield Holiday Celebration last month. Participants could use the kits and anything else available at the firehouse to decorate their structure. These are some of the more creative entries. The event, sponsored by the Village of West Winfield, wrapped up a year of community activities put together for people to enjoy.

Plow Line Repaired On Plainfield Truck
The December meeting of the Plainfield Town Board was at the Town Hall. Supervisor Todd Lewis opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance. Dale Brown, Deputy Highway Superintendent, gave the Highway report. Brown said new employees are working together fine. One plow had a hydraulic line burst and has been repaired. Winfield Sets Park Fees
The Town of Winfield set rates for 2026 for people who rent the two large pavilions in the Winfield Memorial Park. Winfield Town Supervisor Bill Miller said the cost for all rentals includes a $75 deposit. That deposit will be returned if the pavilion is cleaned after use by the renters. Board Appoints Modified Coaches
The Mount Markham Board of Education met before Christmas. Coaching appointments for modified boys basketball 8th grade of Colin Clark and Modified Track and Field of Michael Collins were approved. Columbia Thanks Retiring Officials
The Columbia Town board met last month. Supervisor Nathan Seamon called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. and led the Pledge of Allegiance. Councilmember Ed Reed gave the invocation prayer. The minutes of the November board meeting were reviewed and approved. The Supervisor’s monthly financial report and the Town Clerk’s were reviewed and accepted.
