Budget, Board Votes May 19

School district voters will decide next week on budgets and Board seats. Voting is Tuesday, May 19, with hours set by each district.


In Waterville Central School voters will decide on a budget of $23.8 million that carries a property tax levy increase of 3.09 percent.


Three seats are open on the Board of Education. Two people have filed to be on the ballot, allowing a write-in candidate to take the third three-year term.


Board members Steve Stanton and Justin Barth are each seeking another term. Board member Tim Jones is not running again.


In Clinton, voters will decide on a budget of $34.4 million.


Three current Board members are running for the three open seats.


Rachael Clark, Patrick LaVeck and Sam Catterson are seeking re-election. In Brookfield, two people are running for the two seats on the ballot.


Valerie Nolan, the Board’s president, is seeking a third five-year term.


Isaac Hafelin is looking to join the Board to fill the three-years left on the term by former Board member Bernie Whitacre.


The budget of $8.5 million carries a 2 percent increase on the property tax levy.
