The Town of Kirkland Board met Monday evening to discuss new business. Residents met with the Board to discuss a neighboring property. The residents described the property and house as falling into disrepair with wildlife and overgrowth. The Board discussed the process for having the house condemned. Andy Gale, third generation of Gales to run the Mill, and Ed Gale, whose father started the business 75 years ago, accepted the award from WF Vice President John Brouillette during a reception at the Waterville Historical Society.

One Year Later: Tornado Victims Remembered
A year after a tornado hit Clark Mills, the day was spent remembering the three people killed and finding ways to celebrate their lives. The BLOOM Foundation hosted an evening of Kindness, Hope and Healing at the Clinton Arena with activities for kids, music and flowers. Clark Mills Strong dedicated a generator at the Clark Mills Fire Department in honor of the three who died in the devastation that early Sunday morning. More photos, Page 12. Waterville’s 152nd Commencement
As the song Landslide by Fleetwood Mac played over the sound system in the Waterville Junior-Senior High auditorium, the Class of 2026 left the stage and headed into the audience. Each senior, carrying two red roses, sought the people who had helped them get to the stage that day. Hugs and tears flowed before the seniors returned to their seats. BCS Combines Fall Sports With WCS
With low numbers of students signed up for Fall sports, Brookfield Central School agreed to allow students to play varsity soccer at Waterville. Interim Superintendent Ron Wheelock explained at the June BCS Board of Education meeting that Waterville had reached out to welcome BCS athletes. Reservoir Land Still For Sale
The Village of Oriskany Falls will try for a third time to find a buyer for property near the reservoir. At last week’s Oriskany Falls Village Board meeting, Board members decided to ask for sealed bids for the property. An attempt to sell the land with a minimum bid of $50,000 had no new bidders. Flooding Work Continues
The next phase of mitigating flooding in the Village of Waterville will begin along Big Creek. Village DPW Superintendent Jamie Bechy told Village Board members at last week’s meeting that the next phase of the project will run from behind Stewart’s Shop to the village line past the Wastewater Treatment Plant. The state Department of Environmental Conservation is providing financial assistance, as is Oneida County. The County and Village have a total contribution of $136,179.
