Winter Wonderland
An early Winter storm (technically late fall for the purists!) hit the area the day after Thanksgiving. The snow and cold and blowing winds knocked out the planned parades in Waterville and Clinton. Some of the Clinton events, including the Jingle Slog, er, Jog, took place. Zach bundled up and took some photos, which are on pages 6 and 12. Wreaths Across America Ceremonies On Saturday
Clinton Historical Society announced The Old Burying Ground will again serve as the site of a Wreaths Across America remembrance ceremony Saturday, Dec. 13 at 10 a.m. Community members are invited to attend and participate in this meaningful event honoring the lives and service of our nation’s veterans. Kirkland Finds A New Kennel For Stray Dogs
The Town of Kirkland Board met Monday evening to discuss new business. The Board approved a resolution approving the Nov. 12 meeting minutes. The Board held a discussion about Kevin Magdon as a candidate for the Zoning Board of Appeals, with approval to the Board scheduled for the Organizational meeting. Codes Matters Addressed
So far this year the Village of Waterville has issued 43 building permits. Codes Officer Ben Bialek told the Village Board at their meeting last week that none of them were for new buildings or homes. Most were for extensions and repairs. Bialek said Schoolhouse Apartments recently had a problem with the elevator. People became stuck on it, and the elevator phone inside did not work to alert someone.
