Programs Offer Energy Savings

As part of the Village of West Winfield’s goal as a Clean Energy Community, residents can learn how to save money on their utility bills.


A webinar is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 7 at 6:30 p.m. for homeowners to learn about the programs and to sign up. To join in, sign up by going to https://tinyurl.com/WWHSMV or calling 607-375-7139.


Amy Wyant of Otsego County Conservation Association led the webinar last month that launched the program in the village. OCCA coordinates with the state’s Energy Research and Development Authority to help communities find ways to save money and reduce their energy impact.


West Winfield Village Trustee Carl Wheat has led the effort to qualify the village for the program. To start, West Winfield had to complete four of 10 actions that all contribute to energy efficiency.


Wheat said the village replaced a furnace and switched over to LED lighting in the West Winfield Library and West Winfield Fire Department buildings. Those…
