Plainfield Works On New Website

The regular meeting of the Plainfield Town Board was March 13 at the Town Hall.

Highway Superintendent Dale Brown reported that quotes are being received for the purchase of a new mower-tractor.

Once all have been received, a decision will be made to purchase and how to fund.

It may be possible to fund through the CHIPS program depending on what the Town has as a balance.

That final figure will not be known until the state budget is passed.

The lighting issues with the plow truck have been repaired in-house rather than sent to an outside repair shop.

The brush pile on Crumb Hill has been removed by truck rather than by burning.

Camp Road is a seasonal road and is need of repair due to truck traffic to the manure pit.

Brown will contact the owners of the pit and suggest an alternate road.

Extra brushes are needed for the street broom as well as two tires for the 10-wheeler.

Brown was authorized to spend $1,700 for brushes and $500 for two tires.

Assessor John Davidson reported he has a few more properties to inspect.

He also advises the appraisal for utilities were inadvertently omitted and will need to stay at the current rate for this year only.

Balance sheets, Monthlybudget vs. Actual and monthly disbursements were received from the Town bookkeeper.

The Board voted unanimously to pay the General Abstract of $79,677.48.

The 284 agreement between the Town Board and Highway Department has been signed.

Money for roads to be repaired was authorized and will be split between CHIPS (State) and Town money.

Scott Forrester-Sims attended the meeting to answer questions on a new and improved Town website.

The new site will allow any documents the Town sees to be uploaded to the site.

It will include, but not be limited to, monthly disbursements, account balances, fire protection contracts and abstracts.

A practice site will be set up.

Allen Ruffles, Otsego County Treasurer, was in attendance and advised the County can step in at any time to assume the duties of tax collector in the event the Town does not have a collector.

The County can mail tax notices and can collect bills on line as well as in person

Fund transfer of $2,000 from contingency to unallocated insurance was approved.
