The Clinton Central School Board of Education met Tuesday evening to discuss new business. The Board held a public hearing to discuss the Districtwide Safety Plan. CCSD Superintendent Chris Clancy said the two changes to the plan are a more extensive training list for SPOs and information about the assessment of student or staff needs. New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli announced government audit results. For the Barton Hose Co. Fire Department in Deansboro, auditors reviewed 25 claims totaling $51,230. Except for minor discrepancies, which were discussed with district officials, the claims were adequately supported, for proper district purposes and authorized before payment. There were no recommendations as a result of this audit.

A request for a traffic study in Clark Mills has resulted in having that started. The Kirkland Town Board met last week at the Kirkland Senior Center in Clark Mills. That was the second of four meetings—with two in September—in the hamlet. At the first meeting residents said increased traffic using Clark Mills as a shortcut from Routes 840 to 5, speeding and truck traffic were a problem. Surrounded by her family and new friends made at Waterville Residential Care Center, Myrt Furness celebrated her 100th birthday. Furness turned 100 Aug. 19. A resident of the area her whole life, Furness moved to the WRCC this year when living alone became difficult. She and her first husband, Joe Sanderson, moved to Stockwell when he returned from World War II.
