Work On WCS Budget Begins

Work has begun on the 2026-27 budget for the Waterville Central School District.


WCS Superintendent Zach Abbe discussed the early budget work at last week’s Board of Education meeting.


Also at the meeting recognition was given to student accomplishments, including the one Fall sports team to be named a Scholar Athlete team.


Abbe and School Business Executive Cynthia Amarosa said preliminary budget discussions have started.


One area of expenses that could be increased is classroom materials that need to be resupplied, such as in the Family and Consumer Science classes.


“Classes that use consumable materials find that the costs go up,’’ Abbe said. “We can’t keep the same budget line for 10 years on them.’’


Abbe said schedules are being created for replacing textbooks and equipment to be more proactive on that front, rather than sudden unplanned expenses. ...
