‘Where Does God Want Me?’

For Carol Jubenville, retirement takes place in name only.
Jubenville’s professional career involved running area nursing homes; over time she began thinking about how to bring spirituality into those places.
She started the first chaplain program at Folts Home in Herkimer. In looking to hire a pastor, a thought kept repeating in her mind.
“For crying out loud, Carol, do it yourself,’’ she said. “So at 50 years old I enrolled in seminary school.’’
Twenty years later, including eight years of seminary instruction, Jubenville was assigned to her first church as pastor this spring, or rather, her first two churches. This summer she took over the ministry at Oriskany Falls Methodist Church and Bouckville Methodist Church.
“With everything I had going on I had to stop and pray. Where does God want me in all this? So, I came out of retirement, such as it was, and am loving it,’’ Jubenville said.
