Who doesn’t like food?


Now, even if you don’t want to cook, you can still enjoy food at “What’s Cooking?” the juried exhibition on display at the Kirkland Art Center in Clinton.


This show explores the theme of food on many levels: literally, symbolically, politically, humorously, and conceptually; and includes paintings, prints, and photography.


Kelso Mayo, curator at the Arkell Museum, and chef Tim Hardiman, of Hardiman Hospitality, chose 23 local and regional artists whose colorful and sometimes thought-provoking artworks celebrate food and our sometimes complicated relationship with it.


“It was a pleasure to work with Tim Hardiman on the jury panel,” Mayo said.


“Having his perspective from the culinary world brought a wonderful new dimension to the conversation and opened my eyes to a different way of experiencing What’s Cooking?


“As we looked through the work, I found so many moments of connection. It would be hard for a viewer not to encounter a piece that brings back a memory, a feeling, or a story, something that only food can evoke.”


“What’s Cooking?” is taking place in conjunction with the art center’s Let’s Get Cooking! capital campaign.
