WCS Salutes Retirees

Five employees of the Waterville Central School District who are retiring this month received recognition for their service.

Memorial Park Art teacher Danan Christensen, Custodian Sandy Manion, Spanish teacher Kathy Owens, Math teacher and girls basketball coach Larry Stockwell and Special Education teacher Jody Thomas attended last week’s WCS Board of Education meeting.

WCS Superintendent Zach Abbe spoke about each of them.

As a student at Waterville, he had Stockwell and Owens as teachers.

Christensen, he said, helps students create art from scratch to earn a sense of pride. Manion, who actually retired in April but continues to work as a sub as needed, has a greeting for everyone.

Owens not only guided students through a foreign language, but formed strong relationships with them, Abbe said. ...
