The Brothertown Scholarship Fund assists students of the Waterville Central School District with academic scholarships.
All WCS seniors planning to go on to college, technical school/training and the military are eligible to receive a Brothertown Scholarship Award.
WCS members of the Class of 2023 received their awards at the recognition dinner June 14 at Michael’s Four Eleven Tower. Four new awards were added this year for a total of $39,500 given out.
For recipients and their awards, see pages 6, 7 and 12.
To continue providing these, community members, organizations and businesses can make a donation to the general endowment fund or add a donation to an existing scholarship.
Another way is to create a scholarship (minimum $250) before May 1, 2024, by contacting Brian Bogan, Brothertown Scholarship chairman, at 315.292.3877 or bbogan7777@aol.com.
Also, for anyone age 70.5 or older, a QCD, or a charitable contribution directly from a pre-tax retirement account, can be made to the organization. This will lower a person’s tax contribution, providing a tax benefit for making a charitable contribution; something no longer available to individuals who cannot itemize their taxes.
