WCS Grad Starts New Mercantile

Lindsey Wratten, a 2010 graduate of Waterville Central School, is co-owner of a new store in Burdett.

Wratten and her husband Johnathan Wasson opened the Burdett Exchange: Meat and Mercantile in Burdett earlier this year before their May wedding. The new business is in the former Burdett firehouse, according to the Review&Express newspaper, which did a story on the business in January.

Wratten is also the pharmacist at a CVS in nearby Watkins Glen. Wasson is a third-generation farmer from the area.

The store sells local products from meat to produce to dairy and baked goods. They also stock items made by local artists and crafters.

Although opened since Thanksgiving week 2022, the couple had a grand opening in late May the week after their wedding. The store is open Wednesdays through Sundays.

Wratten is the daughter of Maureen and Jim Wratten of Sangerfield.

The full story is in this week's edition of the newspaper.
