Waterville Sets Fire Contracts

The Village of Waterville has set the 2026 contracts for fire protection with the towns of Marshall and Sangerfield.


At last week’s Waterville Village Board meeting Clerk Gayle Barnes said the total budget for the Waterville Fire Department is $198,179.


This includes payment for two trucks.


The Village’s share is $94,830.


Sangerfield will pay $66,381 and Marshall $28,449.


The 25-minute meeting also included a public hearing on the Village’s Community Development Block Grant application.


No one spoke.


Mayor Gene Ostrander and Trustees Amanda Briggs and Larry Stern voted on Local Law No. 3 to waive residency requirements for the Codes Officer.


Trustees Alex Hilley and Brian Bogan were absent.


In the report for August for the Department of Public Works DPW Superintendent Jamie Bechy said 63.5 tons of garbage was taken to the Oneida County Transfer Station at a cost of $3,532 and another 9.5 tons of trash taken at a cost of $570.


Another 10.43 tons of recycling was taken for free and 8.16 green waste taken for $122.
