Waterville Raises Water Rates To Cover Operational Expenses

A slight increase in water rates for those on the Village of Waterville’s system will help cover the costs of operation.
A public hearing at last week’s Waterville Village Board meeting had no comments from the public.
The new rates begin June 1.
All users will pay an additional $5 user fee per quarter.
Non-village residents will also see a $1 increase per 1,000 gallons used.
Waterville Historical Society officer Laurie Fuess thanked the Village for its assistance with the Society’s 60th anniversary Gala.
The event celebrated the 60th year of the organization.
Village officials have heard that Schoolhouse Apartments has a new owner.
Village attorney Stephanie DiGiorgio said the change in owners should not impact the litigation in process regarding the sinkhole in front of the apartments.
DPW Superintendent Jamie Bechy said a grant application has been started for funds to decommission the old reservoir.
Trees from the reservoir were planted near the creekview area near the old Firemen’s Pavilion.
Waterville Fire Department Chief Jarrod Waufle said the new siren has been installed in the heavy rescue truck.
Codes Officer Ben Bialek said he issued three permits and three notices of violation.
He also issued another stop work order on a Stafford Avenue residence that is doing work without any permits issued.
Village Clerk Gayle Barnes said at the Board’s next meeting May 18 there will be a public hearing on revisions on the General Codes regulations, specifically penalities and fines.
