Village of Richfield Springs Receives Grant

At the November meeting of the Richfield Town Board members learned of a grant the Village of Richfield Springs received.


RS Mayor Rick Spencer reported the Village has received an $18 million dollar grant to upgrade the water lines in the Village.


Also at the meeting, a motion to appoint Chuck Furner to the Board ahead of his Jan. 1 official start was defeated 2-2.


Furner won the November election for the seat. Also at the meeting, Highway Superintendent Tim Proctor reported the motor in the F750 needs to be rebuilt at a cost of $15-$20,000.


He said he does not think it is worth spending

the funds to repair the truck.


Zoning Enforcement Officer Bill Klemm reported one new Land Use Permit was granted in November.


The Herkimer County Humane Society 2025 Agreement needs to be renewed. They have sent over the new contract.


The Board will review the contract and act at the December meeting.

Zoll AED is running a special price of $1,500.


Councilman Ed Bello is working on a grant through T-Mobile that could cover the cost of the AED.


The grant could also be used towards upgrading the water and electric at the beach, updating the windows in the meeting house, expanding the docks, putting in a fishing pier, or tree maintenance.


The 2025 contract with the Village of Richfield Springs for fire and ambulance was approved.


The Board discussed making changes to the 2025 Preliminary Budget.


Councilmen Fred Eckler and Bello said they did not support the Highway Superintendent and the Clerk/Collector getting the increase in salary they requested.


A motion to move the budget as the Final budget was defeated 2-2.


The Preliminary Budget was then accepted as the Final Budget.


The Board approved Sewer Improvement and Water Improvement areas in the Town.
