Study Begins On Clark Mills Four Corners

A request for a traffic study in Clark Mills has resulted in having that started.

The Kirkland Town Board met last week at the Kirkland Senior Center in Clark Mills.

That was the second of four meetings—with two in September—in the hamlet.

At the first meeting residents said increased traffic using Clark Mills as a shortcut from Routes 840 to 5, speeding and truck traffic were a problem.

Kirkland Town Supervisor Garry Colarusso said he requested Oneida County—which owns the main road used by traffic—do a study.

At the meeting several people said they have seen the traffic counter set up near the four corners.

Other matters also were mentioned by residents that should be addressed.

Dustin Dwyer provided more information about redesigning the Clark Mills Fire District.

His map showed areas closer to the CM Fire Department that are in the Clinton Fire Department’s District.

He also said the hamlet has five fire departments covering it as first responders.

“Response times are the No. 1 priority,’’ Dwyer said. “All we’re asking for tonight is to help make that conversation happen.’’
