Mount Markham’s wrestling team will have two wrestlers seeking state titles this week in Albany.
Kadyn Derby (standing on the No. 2 podium) took second place in the Section Three Division II tournament at weight class 215.
The junior enters the state tournament with a record of 38 wins and 7 losses, with 18 wins by pin.
He has been wrestling for three years and has a career record of 95 wins and 36 losses, with 64 pins.
Samantha Massey, an eighth grader, makes her second trip to the girls state wrestling tournament.
Massey won the Section Three title in the 107 weight class, going 41-0 over four matches and winning Most Outstanding Wrestler for the second straight year.
Massey goes to the state tournament in a different weight class after winning a state title last year in the 94-pound weight class.
This year Massey has a record of 44 wins and 4 losses, with 10 pins and 18 technical falls.
For her two years as a Mustangs wrestler Massey stands at 83 wins and 6 losses, with 25 pins and 32 tech falls.
