Six People Join Fire Dept.

Six people joined the Waterville Fire Department last week. It’s the first time in the department’s history, said Waterville Chief Jarrod Waufle, that six people were voted in at the same time.

Joining the department: Jeremy Edwards, Cole Buschor, Margaret Mangan, Hilary Rounds-Kehoe, Jonathan Rounds and Sarah Rounds-Kehoe.

Two of the new members, Waufle said, are EMTs and will be able to handle daytime calls.

After a quick public hearing, the Board vote in favor of the new contract with Spectrum Northeast.

The 15-year contract provides the Village with a 3 percent cable stipend.

Codes Officer Ben Bialek said he issued a permit for solar panels on a house and a Certificate of Occupancy for four apartments on Putnam Street.

The Village chose Barton and Loguidice as the consultants for the New York Forward grant projects.

Trustee Brian Bogan said 13 companies applied. Once the awards are announced, perhaps in March, the company will work with developers on their projects.

Oneida County Legislator Colin Idzi handed out contact information to the Board.

Mayor Gene Ostrander thanked him for all the help given the Village by the county, which he said saved Waterville a lot of money.

Budget transfers of $7,150 for security cameras and $4,500 for eCode project were approved during the 25-minute meeting.
