The World Language Department at Mount Markham Central School announced that Madaline Briggs and Reganne Jones have completed the requirements to earn the New York State Seal of Biliteracy. This honor is only earned by students that demonstrate an Intermediate High level of competency in two languages. Both students, who graduated in June, successfully communicated in both English and French. They completed a five-minute presentation about a French-speaking country, were interviewed about their personal lives, completed research for the project, submitted article reviews and wrote an essay comparing an aspect of the culture of their chosen country and the United States. All of their work was completed in French. Briggs is the daughter of Jonelle Briggs and Quinton Briggs, both of West Winfield. She will attend Keuka College where she plans to study Psychology. Jones is the daughter of Ryan and Sheila Jones of Bridgewater. Reganne will attend Nazareth University, where she plans to major in Dance.
