Sangerfield Hears About Pot Laws

At the last Town of Sangerfield Board meeting, a presentation was given on the state’s new laws for marijuana.

Stacy Marris of Costello, Cooney and Fearon gave a presentation on New York state’s Marijuana Regulation and Taxation Act. She spoke for about 30 minutes on Adult Use of Cannabis, Public Consumption, Licensing, Taxes, Municipalities options, and Traffic Safety.

Board members discussed a local law regarding a 12-month moratorium on Commercial Free-Standing Solar PV Systems within the Town of Sangerfield. A public hearing was scheduled for Oct. 12 and the Board intended to vote on it after.

Also at the meeting the Board will hear information regarding a law for a moratorium on Wind systems.

The board discussed several changes to the Town of Sangerfield Codes officer duties. This included introducing Kevin English as a possible second Codes officer for large code issues.

It was suggested Dan Ford, Codes officer, attend all Planning Board meetings…
