Salaries Adjusted In New Town Of Richfield Budget

The Town of Richfield decreased some town employee salaries for 2026 in their budget for next year.


At the Oct. 16 budget workshop a motion to increase all employee salaries, excluding the Town Board, by 2.5 percent was withdrawn without approval.


Salary for the Town Justice was decreased $220 to $14,780.


Salary for the Court Clerk was decreased $1,000 to $21,000.


Salary for the Town Supervisor was decreased $338 to $13,837.


Salary for the Dog Control Officer was decreased $90 to $2,460. Motions to decrease the Superintendent of Highway position from $69,000 to $66,010 was defeated.


A motion to decrease it to $64,400 was tabled. The Beach position was increased to $30,000 from $27,500.


Real Property tax revenue was increased to $282,107 from $280,315.


A budget workshop Oct. 6 saw the Zoning Officer’s salary decreased from $5,000 to $4,187.


The Town Attorney’s salary was increased $5,000 to $40,000.


Also at that meeting the Board authorized the Town Court to apply for a grant of up to $30,000.


The Richfield Historical Society was approved to make limited improvements to the Richfield Hill Cemetery.


Stone donated by the Jordanville Quarry will be used.


The Town Handbook will be updated to reflect newly hired employees will have benefits covered 80 percent by the Town, that the Town will cover only single plans and at age 65 employees must switch to Medicare and any deductible will end.


At the Board’s regular September meeting, residents asked the Board to stay within the 2 percent tax cap.

Town Supervisor Larry Frigault said the escrow for the Delaware River Solar project is still exhausted, and the project is halted.
