RS Legion Busy With Activities

As we enter the most patriotic time of year it is fitting to announce the happenings of Hugick Purcell Shepard Post 616 American Legion in Richfield Springs.

Legion members are busy attending District and State functions. Flags were placed in several local cemeteries and the Color Guard is performing its duties once or twice a week for burials of Veterans.

The Legion took part in the annual Memorial Day parade and program in the Memorial Park. Boy’s State selections have been made.

The Sons of the American Legion conducted the annual barbecue on Memorial Day. The appearance of the flags along Route 20 made us aware of Memorial Day coming.

The annual raffle of tractor and leaf blower and power washer is underway. Proceeds go to local organizations and Veteran’s needs.

The AmVets are busy setting up the local stops on Prey Hill and across from the school in Richfield for the Fallen Soldier walk June 11. Everyone is invited to attend as the names of local soldiers who gave the ultimate sacrifice are announced. You can follow on the Fallen Soldiers site for times.

The Auxiliary received a beautiful trophy for making the most money for the District president’s project. A fun packed afternoon…
