The New York State Department of Transportation is advising motorists that U.S. Route 20 will be closed between State Route 51 and Stafford Road in the Town of Winfield beginning this week.
The closure is expected to continue for approximately four weeks and is necessary to facilitate culvert work.
Motorists are advised to follow a signed detour utilizing State Route 51, County Route 18, and State Route 28.
Construction activities are weather-dependent and subject to change based on conditions.
Motorists should anticipate travel delays and build extra travel time into their schedules.
Motorists are urged to slow down and drive responsibly in work zones.
Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone.
