Richfield Springs Donates Towards Sewer Line Study

The Village of Richfield Springs Board agreed to provide money toward a study for a sewer line around Canadarago Lake.

At the Board’s December meeting, Richfield Town Supervisor Dan Sullivan gave information on the engineering study to examine the project. This would involve the Town of Exeter, Town of Otsego, Town of Richfield and Village of Richfield Springs.

The study will explore the benefits of removing septic systems that will lower nutrients in the lake that have caused a rapid increase in the density of the algae in the lake, which is detrimental.

The Village Board approved a $1,000 donation for the study.

In other matters, Zoning Enforcement Officer Joseph Roberts said he will create and maintain a Facebook page for informational purposes.

Richfield Springs Fire Department First Assistant Chief Chad Stone said the tanker truck was back in service.

Stone was also approved as deputy superintendent of the Department of Public Works.

Board members approved transferring $15,000 to the Library Fund.

Village Clerk Lori Gilliam provided quotes for a new server and updated software. The Board tabled the discussion until the January meeting to get more details.

An Ice Rink credit of $18.68 was granted to a village resident for the water bill.

Mayor Richard Spencer said the village received a hardship grant for Raw Water in the amount of $127,000.
