Richfield Springs CSD Works On 2024-25 Budget Plan

Work is being done on the 2024-25 budget for the Richfield Springs Central School District.


At the RS Board of Education’s first January meeting, Transportation Supervisor Stan Grose, Technology Coordinator Kyrill Verenich, Mohawk Regional Information Center Managed IT Leader John- Henry Lane, and Library Media Specialist Kathryn Prada, presented their proposed budgets for the 2024-25 school year.


Superintendent Tom Piatti thanked everyone for their budget reports.


He also thanked the community for approving the Capital Project in

December.


Piatti talked about chronic absenteeism, increase in student and staff sickness, and said the December attendance rate was 91%.


Board President Scot Mondore reported that Owen D. Young Central School has reviewed the sports banner proposal and both districts would like to have a joint board workshop to review the proposal and other joint student opportunities.


Board member Brad Smith suggested that only ODY athletes participating after the approval of the five-year sports contract be included on the banners.


At the Board’s second January meeting Facilities Supervisor Rob Walker, presented the proposed maintenance budget for the 2024-25 school year.


Secondary Principal and Athletic Coordinator Matt St. Peter presented the proposed teaching and athletic budgets.


Elementary Principal and CSE Chairperson, Dr. Renè Wilson presented the proposed teaching and special education budgets.


Piatti talked about the unannounced lockdown drill Jan. 22.


A conversation ensued regarding lockdown drill procedures.


Smith asked that students be informed that it was a drill.


Piatti said he will review the state regulations for future lockdowns.
