Richfield Springs Addresses Codes Violations Properties

At their second August meeting the Richfield Springs Village Board chose a health insurance plan for employees.

Board members approved going with Excellus Silver HRA.

Board members also approved a quote of $12,000 from Atis—one of two quotes received—for the diver inspection and sediment removal in the two storage tanks.

The Special Meeting ended after 45 minutes.

The Board met in Executive Session for 50 minutes after the regular session.

At the earlier August meeting Zoning Enforcement Officer Joe Roberts said he gave a two-week extension to the owners of 26 Prospect St. on a violation of operating without a permit.

Roberts said the two weeks turned into three with no compliance.

The Board agreed to give the owner until the end of the day Aug. 13 and if still in violation, be issued a $350 fine.

The Richfield Springs Fire Department will have a Guns vs. Hoses charity softball tournament at the school Sept. 20 from 2 to 4 p.m.

Money raised will go to Tunnel to Towers. Mayor Richard Spencer said the decision is down to three companies out of seven that put in bids for work at Spring Park.

The timetable is 12 to 18 months for the work once the bid is decided.

The project is part of the New York Forward grant money received.

Board members met in Executive Session for 90 minutes to discuss employee matters and zoning issues.

At the July 28 meeting Board members took Roberts’ recommendation to deem 10 Canadarago St. a public nuisance because of rubbish/solid waste violations.

The matter was turned over to Village Attorney Joseph Castiglione.

RS Fire Department First Assistant Chief Ryan Strong said more Air Packs will be ordered.

Fall Dump Day is scheduled for Sept. 26.

At the earlier July meeting a quote of $10,200 was accepted from Tobins Heating and Air Conditioning for central air conditioning in the Village Building.

In June the Board deemed 41 Center St. and 27 Bronner St. public nuisances for codes violations.
