Repairs Made To Trucks In The Town of Plainfield

The February meeting of the Plainfield Town Board was at the Town Hall.


Supervisor Todd Lewis opened the meeting at 7 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance.


Highway Superintendent Chad Hazekamp said the driveshaft on the 2017 plow truck broke and had to be towed to be repaired.


Siding on the east end of the garage has blown off.


A temporary repair has been made until a permanent one can be done when the weather improves.


Spare hydraulic pumps for the plow trucks have been purchased from a vendor at half the price as in the past.


The John Deere payloader was within hours of losing warranty service due to little or no maintenance that was required since taking delivery.


Oil samples were sent to Deere to avoid loss of warranty. Oil and filters were changed on the backhoe.


It appears they were never maintained.


Bristles for the road broom sweeper will cost approximately $1,400 plus shipping.


Air fittings and nuts and bolts have been purchased to keep on hand, as there was no inventory.


Specs for a new Kubota tractor/mower were sent and approved from the CHIPS program via NYS DOT.


The cost of $124,000 will be reimbursed to the Town in accordance with CHIPS guidelines.


The Board approved buying the new tractor/mower.


Hazekamp said 3.1 miles of Talbot Road will be resurfaced.


A waiver will be obtained from NYS DOT, as the time limit per CHIPS 10-year requirements on Talbot Road projects was a year short.


A total of $50,500 will be spent.


An additional $15,800 will be spent on other smaller projects. All funds spent are reimbursable.
