The Korean and Vietnam War monument on the Village Green in Clinton was updated with the addition of the name of Walter T. Warshal. There was a ceremony attended by representatives from the Clinton VFW Post, the Helmuth-Ingalls American Legion Post 232 and Elizabeth Tantillo, Mayor of Clinton. In the past, the American Legion Posts in Clinton and Clark Mills and the VFW Post donated the monument. Pvt. Warshal served in Korea and went missing in 1951. It was later learned he was captured by the North Koreans and executed. His family, led by his nephew, Robert Warshal, began their quest to get further background information after learning his name was not on the munument. This omission was brought to the attention of the Helmuth-Ingalls American Legion Post, which made arrangements to get his name engraved on the monument, with assistance from the other two veteran organizations in the area. After the ceremony, Robert thanked the organizations for bringing closure to his uncle’s death for his family.
