Playoff Run Ends In Overtime Loss

Although their season ended Saturday, the Richfield Springs/Owen D. Young boys varsity basketball team made it last a lot longer than expected.

RSO, seeded No. 9 in the Section Four Class D tournament blazed into the championship game played vs. South Kortright last Saturday at SUNY Delhi. Against South Kortright, the fantastic run ended for RSO in overtime, 68-67.

Top-seed South Kortright, who in January beat RSO 91-42, needed the extra period to advance. RSO had been down midway through the game but rallied to tie it at the end of regulation.

Sophomore Dylan Hosford scored 25 points and Austin Bowman had 12. Bradyn Dunckel scored 7, Clay Bobnick 6 and Jordi Diliberto 5.

Hosford received the All-Purpose Award from WCDO.

To advance to the championship, RSO beat Charlotte Valley 58-49 in the semifinals. Indians sophomore Dylan Hosford led the team into the title game with 29 points and Austin Bowman scored 16.
