Oriskany Falls FD Weighs Three Bids

Three bids came in for the project to refurbish a fire truck in the Oriskany Falls Fire Department fleet.


Fire commissioners and Oriskany Falls Village Board members reviewed the bids at last week’s Board meeting.


The three bids were relatively close, ranging from $288,799 to $305,438.


A decision on which company gets the bid will be made at the January meeting.


Fire commissioners will review and compare the bids and present a recommendation.


To save on the cost of buying a new truck, the department is instead taking the body of the truck stationed in Knoxboro and relacing the chassis, engine and other parts.


Total cost, with labor and parts, is estimated at $430,000.


Commissioner Dale Petrie said two of the three bidders came to Oriskany Falls to look at the truck.


One bidder was at the meeting.


Village Clerk Amber Bell went over the options for borrowing money for the work.


A loan through the Emergency Services program would provide a lower interest rate, so that will be pursued first.
