OFFD Will Borrow Truck

When the Oriskany Falls Fire Department truck stationed in Knoxboro heads for major renovations this Spring, the department will rent a truck during the gap.


OFFD Fire Chief Russ Petrie told the Oriskany Falls Village Board last week that the Hubbardsville Fire Department has a 1992 truck available to stand in for Engine 2, which is housed in Knoxboro.


For $500 a month, OFFD will have loan of the Hubbardsville tanker, which holds 850 gallons of water.


Petrie said if work on Engine 2 begins in April, it will take six to seven months.


Petrie said the preference is to keep a truck stationed in Knoxboro rather than have calls answered out of the main station in Oriskany Falls.


“This is part of the expense of getting a new truck,’’ Mayor Colin Idzi said.


The Board approved the loan agreement. Also discussed with the Board is financing the $427,000 it will cost to renovate Engine 2.


Using money in the reserve fund for this purpose, plus village funding and a state Emergency Service Loan, with perhaps a grant if received, will cover the cost.
