O’Falls Sells Fire Trucks

During their November meeting, the Village of Oriskany Falls Board heard a request to reduce their lease agreement with the Town of Augusta.


Augusta Councilman James Dowd was present on behalf of the Town of Augusta to request the Village decrease the lease agreement. The Village Board explained their reasoning for increasing the Lease amount and heard what Dowd had to say.


The Oriskany Falls Fire Commissioners requested the Village refuse the bid on truck 439 and put truck 433 on Auctions International with a minimum bid of $20,000.


The final bid for truck 439 on Auctions International was in the amount of $16,100 from Bill4552. Trustee Brian Bell made the motion seconded by Mayor Steve Jeffers to counter offer Bill4552 in the amount of $45,000.


The bidder would have five days to accept or reject. If he rejects the counter offer, then the Village will sign a contract with Brindlee Mountain Fire Apparatus to sell truck 439 at a minimum amount of $60,000.


Jeffers made the motion seconded by Trustee Douglas Smorol to put truck 433 on Auctions International with a minimum bid of $20,000. Auction dates are Dec. 3 through Dec. 17.


The Village Board decided not to adopt a Local Law opting out of retail of cannabis in the Village.


Board members decided to stay with the village’s current health plan.


Fitzgerald, DePietro & Wojnas CPA has audited the Village Treasurers Report and supporting records for fiscal year ending May 31, 2021 and they are on file for public knowledge.


Bob Hendricks submitted a quote to replace lighting at both the DPW Garage and WWTP in the amount of $2,537. Board members approved the work.


Smorol asked the Fire Commissioners about the need for the siren at the Oriskany Falls firehouse.


Jeffers informed the Board that a village employee had been exposed to Covid and wanted to discuss the procedure for quarantine.


The Board went into executive session to discuss a Village employee and Covid quarantine requirements.


After 20 minutes the Board returned to open session. A Covid Leave Policy will be presented at the December meeting.
