New Year Starts For Waterville Central School

The new academic year opened for Waterville Central School with a number of changes.


Last week’s WCS Board of Education meeting opened with the Reorganizational meeting for 2025-26.


Board Clerk Jennifer Nichols opened the meeting with a moment of silence for teacher Meral Dahlin, who passed away last month.


Returning Board member Dan Nichols and new Board member Laurie Zweifel were sworn in for three-year terms.


New Superintendent Zach Abbe, who started July 1, was sworn in, as was School Business Executive Cynthia Amarosa.


Dan Nichols, who served as Board president for the last two years, nominated Steve Stanton for president.


Stanton was unanimously elected.


Tim Jones was unanimously elected Board vice president.


Both were sworn in.


Stanton thanked Nichols for serving as president and leading them through a search for a superintendent. ...
