The Town of Columbia’s new salt shed on Jordanville Road will soon be filled with sand to put down in winter. The building can hold 9,000 tons and was paid for by a grant through the state Department of Environmental Conservation. JGK Associates handled the grant writing for the town. Highway Superintendent Mark Buddle said the town won the $500,000 grant on its first try and the building’s covering has a 25-year guarantee.
