New Principals Chosen At Waterville Central

Waterville Central School District hired two principals last week to fill vacancies.

Kathy Zangrilli is the new principal at Memorial Park School in Waterville.

Zangrilli was approved for the position at last week’s Waterville Central School Board of Education meeting. Her official start date will come in the next month or so.

WCS Superintendent Dr. Jennifer Spring said Zangrilli, who attended the meeting, comes to the District with extensive experience in elementary education.

Zangrilli has spent her career in the Oneida City District, most recently as the assistant Middle School Principal for the past two years.

Zangrilli also taught first and fourth grades before becoming a principal.

Zangrilli told the Board members she is excited about coming to Waterville and that’s she’s heard great things about the District.

She will take over for Karen Hinderling, who is retiring.

At a special meeting two days later, former Clinton Central School Superintendent Dr. Stephen Grimm was appointed Acting Junior-Senior High Principal until Sept. 6, and from Sept. 7 till June 30 appointed Interim Principal.

Grimm retired from CCS in 2022.

He brings experience as a superintendent, teacher and principal to WCS.

He lives in Clinton with his family.

Also at that meeting Business Manager Cynthia Amarosa was appointed District Treasurer, Assistant Principal Lindsay Owens appointed to that position for the next year and Michele Van Slyke hired as a Junior-Senior High Social Studites teacher.
