New Officials In Columbia

Some new faces have taken up their duties for the Town of Columbia.
Town Justice John Skinner submitted his plans to retire as of Dec. 31 to the Town Board at their November meeting.
Skinner has been in the role for 17 years, following in a town role his father once had.
Replacing him will be Gene Doremus, who has been the Town Court Clerk since February.
He will attend training for the new role in December.
At the end of the October meeting Town Clerk Therese Winchester resigned.
This month Eric Gloo, who was elected to the position unopposed in the November elections, handled his first meeting, having been appointed early.
Winchester is the deputy clerk until Dec. 31 to help Gloo in his new position.
Councilman Jim Cotton, who didn’t run for re-election, helped newly elected Councilwoman Tammy DesGrosielliers follow along with the Board’s agenda before she takes office Jan. 1.
And new Highway Superintendent Justin Davis attended.
He will replace Mark Buddle, who retires at the end of the year.
