New Fire Truck Debuts

This month the Barton Hose Co. Fire Department in Deansboro put a new truck on the road.

The department has a 2026 tanker pumper in service for its fire district and aid to surrounding districts that carries 2,000 gallons of water.

The new vehicle, known as Engine Two, replaces a 1990 truck, which will be sold at auction.

Replacing the 1990 truck began in 2019, but the pandemic stopped the process, Deansboro Fire Chief Chris Steinmann said.

The truck was built in Minnesota and driven by department members to its new home on Route 12B.

The new truck cost $475,000.

And while a hefty pricetag, it’s one that’s marked Paid in Full.

The Hose Company received a significant donation towards the cost from the Barton Trust Fund and from a donor who wishes to remain anonymous.

In addition, the fire department—a separate financial entity—provided the rest of the funding through its fund raisers and taxpayer support.
