Mustangs Player Leads Sox Team To State Title

Logan Plows, a student at Mount Markham High School, played this summer on the state championship Junior Utica Blue Sox.

Plows, who will be a sophomore in the fall, was named Most Valuable Player of the state American Legion Junior Tournament.

The Blue Sox beat Clinton County 6-2 to win the championship played in Binghamton.

The Junior Blue Sox improved to 24-3 and played last weekend in Bangor, Maine in the Junior Legion Northeast Regional Tournament.

The Blue Sox opened Friday vs. Connecticut. They won in extra innings, 6-5, as Plows had two hits and an RBI.

New York’s team finished fourth after a 6-1 loss to Massachusetts.

Due to rain the tournament final was pushed to Monday to see who goes to the Legion World Series.

In the state title game Plows had four hits, including two solo homers.

Plows was a member of the Mount Markham baseball team that played for the Section Three title last spring.
