On a weather-perfect night the members of the Mount Markham Central School Class of 2024 transitioned from seniors to alumni.
The ceremony at Charles R. Engle Stadium came before the rain over the weekend and after the heat of the previous days.
Family and friends filled the bleachers as the graduates, MMCS administrators, faculty and Board of Education members sat in chairs on the field.
Members of the class marched in one by one to take the seats.
The chorus of seniors and underclassmen sang the National Anthem and Alma Mater.
High School Principal Victor Zampetti welcomed everyone and introduced valedictorian Owen Allen.
Allen told a story about two rowboats and 10 friends on the lake, when the oar to one of the boats snapped.
Using teamwork, Allen said, they all made it back to shore.
