On May 12 through 14, the Mount Markham FFA Chapter traveled to Syracuse with 17 students to attend the New York FFA State Convention.
While at the convention members competed in Agricultural Mechanics, Maple Career Development Event, Senior Quiz Bowl, Junior Quiz Bowl, Tool Identification, Senior Prepared Public Speaking and Junior Extemporaneous Speaking.
Students also participated in different tours around the Syracuse area. Some of the tours included Paladino Farms, Haun Welding Supply.
Specifically at the Haun Welding Supply we learned about the different mixtures of gasses used for the welding process and medical supplies.
Members had the opportunity to attend workshops that ranged from forestry to how to run a successful agricultural social media account.
Any person who attended the New York FFA State convention had the opportunity to create food pantries that would be used throughout New York.
Some of the favorite experiences of the members include:
"One of my favorite parts of my first NYS FFA Convention was seeing all the blue corduroy jackets, and all the leaders that are proudly wearing those jackets.
One thing I can't wait for next year is seeing more kids…
