Mount Markham Discus Thrower Off To States

Mount Markham senior Mackenzie Roth took first place in the overall Section Three meet in discus to qualify for the state tournament this week.

Roth had a throw of 108 feet, 6 inches to outdistance all other girls at the meet last week at Cicero-North Syracuse. The second-place finisher’s throw was 7 feet, 6 inches shorter.

Also competing at CNS were Dominic Jones, who was fifth in the shot put, and Amber Piersman, who finished sixth in the pole vault.
