Mount Markham Class Of 2026


Mount Markham’s Class of 2026 had their final lessons on the football field last Friday, getting advice about the future while saying goodbye to their time as students.


A beautiful night filled the bleachers with family and friends to watch the Commencement ceremony.


High School Principal Victor Zampetti, who retired this year after 10 years with the District, led the procession of Board of Education members, administrators, teachers and the graduates.


He recognized the following retirees, along with himself: Adria Bukovsky, Andrew Casale, Ron Casler, Lori Engle, Diane Jones, Christine Maine, William Pomares, Amy Roys and James Wrobel.


Salutatorian Esther Brutsky talked about measurements, with the feeling of if not doing more you’re not doing enough.


But, she said, she realized during the bonfire on the Senior trip that small moments make the real difference in our lives.


“You will be remembered for your character, morals and the way you treat people,’’ she said, saying lives are measured by who a person was. Bukovsky was chosen by the class as their guest speaker.


She said a new chapter was beginning for her as well as them. Bukovsky talked about the concept of community, saying the graduates were lucky to grow up in such a compassionate and supportive place as Mount Markham is.


She advised them to rely on their community and ask for help as needed.


“Each day provides you an opportunity to build your legacy,’’ she said.


Students with college credits, work-based learning experience or Clark Foundation scholarships were recognized.


Valedictorian Owen Jones used Disney movies as inspiration for his talk.


From the Princess and the Frog, Jones said, he’s learned never to lose sight of what truly matters.
