Memorial Day Has A Few Public Events

For the second year in a row, Memorial Day will come and go without the pre-pandemic series of public tributes.


The C.J. Fulmer American Legion Post in Sangerfield will conduct a small ceremony at 9 a.m. at Soldiers and Sailors Park in Waterville. There is no parade.


The Helmuth-Ingalls American Legion Post and VFW Post will conduct a short ceremony of remembrance at the College Street bridge beginning at 9 a.m.

This will be followed by the laying of wreaths and flags on the Village Green War Memorials.


The Kelley-Phillips Post American Legion in Oriskany Falls plans a short parade and ceremony in Douglass Park starting at noon.


Deansboro will have a ceremony at the Veterans Memorial on Route 315 at 10 a.m., followed by a small parade from the firehouse to the cemetery at 10:30 with a ceremony at the cemetery.


Leonardsville will have a parade starting at the former school at 11 a.m. Lineup is at 10:30 with marchers going to the cemetery.


The Johnson-Rogers American Legion in Brookfield will conduct the following graveside services in cemeteries: Unadilla Forks 8 a.m., South Brookfield 8:30, North Brookfield 9 and Brookfield 9:30.


There is no parade in Brookfield.
