Marshall Conserves On Water Usage

The October meeting of the Marshall Town Council opened with the Pledge of Allegiance and the approval of the Sept. 9 meeting, and the Work Session on the Budget Sept. 30.


Following that was the public hearing on the proposed budget. There was no public comment, and the hearing was closed.


The budget was approved.


The public hearing on the Fire Districts was next.


Supervisor Colleen Baldwin, who chaired the meeting, reported she had heard from the Waterville Fire Department only.


She is still waiting to hear from Paris, Oriskany Falls, and Deansboro fire departments about their contracts.


There were no further comments, and the hearing was closed.


A motion was made and seconded to approve the Waterville Fire Department contract.


In the Public Comment portion of the meeting, the problem of accumulated trash on a property on Summit Road was brought up.


Baldwin said the resident is unstable and is not to be approached.


The property belongs to that person’s aunt.


Also, there are a lot of dogs who are wandering around.


She has called the sheriff and the health department and they told her there was nothing they could do.


Gary Schreppel, the Codes Enforcement officer, will investigate and issue violations, if necessary.


A resident of VanHyning road requested an update on the situation in that area.


Attorney Bill Schmitt said Dan Williams has been served with five notices, and he has been in regular contact with Williams’ attorneys.


There was some confusion with the forms Williams needed for a zoning permit; that has been cleared up.


Also, a survey has been ordered.


A summons has not been issued for him to appear before the local Court, but Schmitt has almost finalized a Notice of Injunction.


Dante Ruia, Chairman of the Planning Board, reported they approved some building lots.
