Litchfield Reminds Residents About Licensing Dogs

The Litchfield Town Board met Jan. 6 for their monthly meeting and 2026 Reorganizational meeting.
Town Board meetings will be on the second Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m.
Shaun Jones was hired as custodian to maintain the Town building.
A $25 fine will be given for unregistered dogs in the Town. All dogs in Litchfield must be licensed.
Shane Loughlin was appointed Dog Control Officer.
The old pickup will be listed for sale.
Employee health insurance will be paid either 50 percent of $900 per employee.
Employees who opt out of the Town’s Health Insurance coverage will receive a payment in lieu of for $2,500.
A grant for a salt shed has been started with a goal of having it done by the end of February.
Thomas Bentley was appointed Town Historian. Christopher Bray was appointed Town Attorney.
Dale Conner was reappointed to the Board of Appeals for a five-year term.
The policies for vacation days, sick days and bereavement were adopted.
Councilman Jonathan Knauth was appointed Deputy Supervisor and Michelle Stefan was appointed Deputy Town Clerk and Deputy Registrar of Vital Statistics.
David (Bud) Crossman was appointed Deputy Highway Superintendent and Daniel Coffin Deputy Tax Collector.
