The Town of Litchfield turns 230 years old this year, only 20 years behind the United States.
Litchfield Town Historian Tom Bentley has been contacted by Assemblyman Brian Miller’s office for a possible recognition resolution given to the Town.
Bentley is also looking to honor all veterans in the Town of Litchfield.
He is looking to compile a list of all past and present veterans for a way to honor them.
In other news from the June Litchfield Town Board meeting, The Root Farm filed for a permit to move ahead with their planned school.
A resident from the Town of Paris came to the meeting and talked about traffic issues for their town near access to the Farm.
The General and Highway bills were audited and approved.
Ray Donley finished up his work as the town’s Code Enforcer.
He was thanked for his service to the town.
Jerry Meyers was approved to fill the vacancy as of July 1.
Highway Superintendent Jerry Wheelock presented quotes for a new mower and trucks as the Board had requested.
Board members approved purchasing a F600 truck with plow package.
Purchase of the needed mower was again put on hold to obtain more quotes.
The 10-wheel 4x4 truck was also tabled for more research.
Board members instead approved spending $12,000- plus for additional repairs to the Oshkosh truck to get it operational.
