Library Resources Grow

In her first year as the Waterville Central School District librarian, Liz

Brennan said she tried to make the library resources meaningful for classroom learning.


Brennan filled the vacancy in September after teaching English classes at the High School.


She is working to obtain her librarian certification.


Brennan gave a presentation on her year to the WCS Board of Education during their meeting last week.


With the budget passed and a new superintendent chosen, the four board members in attendance conducted the public portion of the meeting in an hour.


Incoming Superintendent Zach Abbe attended the meeting, as did Laurie Zweifel, who takes a seat on the board in July.


At the start of the school year, Brennan handed out a flyer showing ways she could help teachers and students.


She also thanked library aides Mary Fallon and July Olmstead for their efforts to help students.


Brennan highlighted some of the projects she did with students and teachers.


These included a fifth-grade project on ancient civilization and junior high health classes putting together a slide show for the school to see.


Brennan also created various book groups for students.


Next year she’s likely to see all elementary classes at least once a month, she said.


She also would like to attend department meetings at the secondary school to present ways to teachers to assist them.
