Kirkland Board Meets In Clark Mills


About 25 people attended the Town of Kirkland Board’s first meeting at the Kirkland Senior Center.


Last week’s Town Board meeting was the first of four through September Board members will conduct at the Senior Center.


The idea, said Town Supervisor Garry Colarusso, is to attract town residents who might not make the trip to the Town Hall near Franklin Springs.


What Board members heard for 45 of the 60 minutes of the meeting was a call for safety features in Clark Mills.


These included sidewalks, better traffic control at the four corners and crosswalks.


Irene Parish said her house shakes when trucks speed by.


She also said a neighboring house looks abandoned with the property not kept up.


Senior Center Director Sharleen Machold reviewed some of the activities over the next month, including a bus trip and dine around lunch trips.


Colarusso said the work Machold has done to increase participation at the Center has paid off.


Dustin Dwyer, chairman of a Clark Mills advocacy group, asked the Board to support the idea of sidewalks and crosswalks added in the hamlet.
